President

Mikel Morrow

Mr. Morrow has spent his career in high tech sales since the early 80’s which included hardware, software, and consulting services with such companies as Prime Computer, Autodesk, Informatica, SAP, and MicroStrategy.  As a sales executive he consistently exceeded his goals for over 35 years working with such customers as Boeing, Microsoft, The Gates Foundation, Hewlett Packard, Nordstrom, Group Health, and Seagen.  In private life he has volunteered for over 15 years as a youth athletics coach, been a board member for 3 years with Jobs for WA Grads, and most recently a board member and President and Vice President of the Gibson Ek PTSA Board.     He is also active in sports, including tennis, triathlon training, and leads spin classes at local athletic clubs.  Mike is a Seattle native, a graduate of Mercer Island High School and Washington State University and resides in Sammamish with his family of five.

Chairman

Ken Moyle

Ken is a lawyer and business adviser with a 30+-year history of senior level corporate management and public advocacy in local, state and international matters. A military veteran and graduate of University of Washington School of law, Ken has been continually engaged in community action with organizations such as the Seattle Marathon, Habitat for Humanity, Mountains-to-Sound Greenway Trust, Team Rubicon and Cub Scouts. Ken’s twin children, Jackie and Marcus, graduated from Gibson Ek in 2022. For his capstone project, Marcus secured funding for Gibson EK’s 3-D printing lab and oversaw its design and implementation. The impact of this project on the student, the school and the community was the inspiration for establishing the Gibson EK Foundation.  Ken and his family have lived in the Lakemount area for the last 30 years.

Vice President

Randy Gould

Randy is a passionate corporate educator with a vision for transforming traditional learning models into a more student-led and dynamic approach. With over 15 years of experience in the corporate education sector, Randy has helped professional students reach their full potential and become lifelong learners.  As an advocate for student-led learning, Randy believes that when students are given the freedom to explore and pursue their interests, they are more engaged, motivated, and ultimately more successful. His approach involves creating a supportive and collaborative learning environment that empowers students to take ownership of their education.  Throughout his career, Randy has been recognized for his innovative and forward-thinking approach. He has designed and implemented various programs and initiatives that have had a positive impact on student outcomes, including personalized learning plans, project-based learning, and collaborative learning spaces.  Mr. Gould is a native of California and resides in Sammamish for the last 9 years with his family of 5.

Secretary

Tom Evans

With a long technology career primarily focused in Sales he began with Microsoft in 1995 and had worked there and with several other firms connecting to businesses across all sectors and including several years focused on Not for Profit entities. Volunteerism has included Youth Soccer coaching and 2 years as a HOA Board President. Tom and his wife Diane are parents to Jack who is a 1st year Gibson EK student. Mr. Evans is resident of the Seattle area since 1990 and Issaquah since 2015. Tom hails originally from North Carolina and is a proud graduate of Appalachian State University with a B.S. in Government Administration and Planning.

Matt Pelham

With a background working with youth in alternative settings, Matt brings a wealth of experience and passion to his work with the Gibson Ek Foundation.  Previous experiences include leading youth in various outdoor adventure programs including a wilderness program serving adjudicated youth.  Matt has also served as the Director of Teen programs for the Kirkland Boys & Girls Club where he helped secure grant funding to construct an indoor rock climbing wall.  Matt holds an MBA from the University of Washington and a BS in Recreation Administration from Chico State University. He has worked the past 24 years in technology fields, with the last 13 at DocuSign.  Matt is also the proud parent of a Gibson Ek 101 student.

Treasurer

Janet Bien

Janet earned her Bachelor’s of Art, Business Administration in Finance from Washington State University (1985) and her Accounting degree from the University of Washington (1989).  She practiced as a Certified Public Accountant at Ernst & Young in both the Seattle and San Jose offices where she worked for seven years.  Janet has spent her 30 year career focusing in finance and business process improvement.  In 2001, Janet worked at AT&T Wireless as a Manager in Business Consultant developing business process improvement reporting to Senior Management and the Board of Director’s Audit Committee.  Since 2005, Janet has been working as an independent consultant functioning as a Controller to small companies assisting them with daily operations, supporting financial audits and preparing SEC reporting.  Janet also has a long career of providing volunteer accounting services to non-profit organizations such as Eastside Mothers of Multiples, Endeavour Elementary PTSA, the local chapter of the Boy Scouts of America and the Gibson Ek Foundation.  Ms. Bien is a native of Washington State and has resided in Sammamish for 20 years with her family of 5.
