FAQ

  • How is this different from the PTSA fund drive?
    Both are essential to programs, the PTSA funds annual projects while this fund is to build a mechanism for funding projects into the future outside the limited budget available.
  • Can I specify how my donation will be used?
    We encourage donors to make unrestricted gifts, as this allows us to allocate funds where they are needed most. However, if you have a specific project or initiative that you would like to support, please contact us to discuss your options.
  • How do I know where the funds will be used?
    Students work with their advisors every day to plan budgets and communicate to students that they can request funding for their projects. The Gibson EK school website has stories of these projects regularly updated.
  • How do you ensure that funds are being used appropriately?
    The Gibson Ek Foundation has oversight from state legislators to ensure the appropriate use of funds. We have a transparent system of checks and balances in place to ensure that funds are used to support student-led projects and the PTSA, with no influence from the foundation.
  • Can I volunteer or get involved with the Gibson Ek Foundation in other ways?
    Yes, we welcome volunteers and supporters who share our mission and vision. Please email us about volunteer opportunities and other ways to get involved. president@gibsonekfoundation.org
  • Is there a minimum donation amount?
    No, please give in whatever quantity you feel comfortable with. There is a monthly contribution capability option available.
  • Why is this needed?
    While a small amount of funds are currently available to students today, an expanded budget will allow to expand and inspire students in perpituity.
  • How are funds allocated to student-led projects?
    99% of the funds donated to the Gibson Ek Foundation go directly to supporting student-led projects. Students can submit proposals for their projects, which are then evaluated by a review committee. The committee assesses the feasibility and impact of each project before awarding funding.
  • How can I donate to the Gibson Ek Foundation?
    Donations to the Gibson Ek Foundation can be made online through our website. We accept donations of all sizes and appreciate your support.
  • Can I just dedicate my time instead of donating funds?
    Gibson EK is always looking for mentors in the community which is a really useful way to give back with your time and expertise.
